Cadiz City, Negros Occ.
And so we continue to plant seeds of learning, and the love for reading, as Museo Sang Bata Sa Negros’ Books on Wheels keeping rolling, this time to Villacin Elementary School where 656 kids were eagerly waiting for us. It was one whole day of storytelling, read aloud activities, sharing on the different ways of keeping plastic out of our seas, rivers and oceans , recycling, reusing, and refusing single use plastic as much as possible. Our mascot, Kakay the Crab, had the kids dancing around him as he told them about the harmful effects of plastic and trash to our environment.
The Books in Wheels have visited several schools and barangays in Cadiz City and we are very impressed with the way the children, even as young as pre-school age , are so aware and mindful of keeping their surroundings clean. They are well informed on the different ways of recycling and reusing plastic. A big congratulations to the Dep-ed and the local government of Cadiz City for including simple waste management practices in their school system. How i wish all towns and cities in Negros will follow their example. Congratulations also to Cadiz City Sp Cristine Fria Napiza and Roldan Geronga for their unwavering support to the projects and activities for the children of Cadiz. Thank you once again to our hardworking volunteers and staff of Museo Sang Bata sa Negros, Leslie Abong Oreta, Lorina Insipido, Hazel Villoso, Ramelyn Cuenco, Mercy Sanico, Pedro Bocabal, Remar Gallego and Jonathan Cabahug. Thank you too, to Villacin Elementary School for the warm welcome. It was a joy working with all of you, teachers and officers of the school.
